Chris is the President of Marquette Wealth Management where he is responsible for the firm’s overall strategic growth and development. Prior to being named President, Chris served as Managing Director at the company where he was responsible for client relationships, investments, and trading. Chris is one of the founding members of the company.
Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of St. Thomas and completed the Certified Public Accountant certification requirements.
Before joining Marquette, Chris spent several years with a local fund manager, Knelman Asset Management Group LLC, where he played a key role in the overall operations of the firm. Prior to Knelman, Chris held various roles in the financial services industry with increasing responsibilities.
Chris lives in Chanhassen with his wife Tina and three children Lily, Benjamin, and Hayden. When not running kids to activities he and his wife enjoy traveling and trying new restaurants and wine.
Jean is a managing director and chief compliance officer of Marquette Wealth Management. She is one of the founding members of the firm and a member of Marquette’s management team. Jean oversees the development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to ensure that Marquette Wealth Management meets its fiduciary obligations, handles the firm’s financial reporting and budgeting, and ensures that Marquette’s custody and reporting platforms meet our clients’ needs and fully comply with regulatory requirements.
Jean also works directly with several clients and their families, providing trust, private foundation, estate, retirement and agency account administration; coordination of income and estate tax planning; advisory services; and customized planning and analysis.
Jean earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, summa cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. A Certified Public Accountant, she is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Investment Adviser Association.
Previously, Jean was a financial manager at Lowry Hill, a comprehensive wealth management firm; a tax manager at Piper Trust Company; and a member of the tax practice at KPMG-Minneapolis.
In his role, Jim provides a comprehensive perspective on asset allocation, investment and risk management, investment due diligence and selection. He develops portfolio strategies, provides proactive advice and constructs asset allocation strategies to achieve short and long-term complex investment and financial objectives. Jim works closely with the firm’s Relationship Managers in achieving the best solutions for a variety of clients. Jim’s inquisitive and inclusive approach encourages transparency, idea generation, respectful debate and informed decision making.
With 40 years of diverse investment leadership experience, Jim has guided the successful achievement of long-term strategic investment goals for complex portfolios and organizations, both as an investment advisor and portfolio manager. Prior to joining Marquette Wealth Management, Jim spent eight years as Managing Director of Investments at Fiduciary Counselling, Inc., a large single-family office where he led the team in implementing a comprehensive investment program for taxable and tax-exempt clients.
Previously, as an original Partner, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer at Knelman Asset Management, Jim set overall research and investment strategy for all equity-oriented accounts. The firm was ultimately acquired in 2005 by Lazard Asset Management LLC, a global investment firm where Jim subsequently became Director, Investments and Portfolio Manager.
Jim is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Minnesota. He earned his MBA and bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he was a member of the Applied Security Analysis Program.
Jim lives in Eagan with his wife, Jane, where they spend their free time with their adult children and multiple grandkids. A long time participant, coach and spectator of a variety of sports, Jim is committed to helping develop the athletic pursuits of the next generation.
With more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, Abbey focuses on designing and implementing goal-based, tax-efficient investment and planning strategies to help clients achieve their unique goals. She ensures they receive customized wealth management services including trust, private foundation, estate, retirement and agency account administration; coordination of income and estate tax planning; advisory services; and customized planning and analysis.
Abbey earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph Minnesota. Abbey also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation to further her professional development and help her serve clients in a comprehensive manner.
Previously, Abbey had been a Senior Investment Consultant at Allodium Investment Consultants and a Portfolio Manager at the Somerset Group, LLC both local Registered Investment Advisors.
Abbey lives in Golden Valley. She enjoys running, biking and spending time at her family’s cabin in northern Wisconsin with her dog, Pippen.
With over 30 years’ experience in investment management, John is responsible for business development activities, oversight of revenue generating processes and marketing activities. As a respected member of the community and a trusted advisor to clients, John fosters close business relationships based on mutual trust and a high level of expertise.
John has recently rejoined Marquette Wealth Management, having co-founded the company in 2005 with other members of the senior team. A strong alignment with Marquette’s approach to serving clients has brought John back to foster continued growth of the company.
John has worked extensively with families, individuals and institutions throughout his career. He has been a valued member of the team at Marquette, Bel Air Investment Advisors, Sahara Investment Company and Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo). He received his MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and his BA in Business, Spanish and French at St. John’s University. John serves or has served on the boards of Folds of Honor Minnesota, St. John’s University, Twin Cities Public Television, The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum among others.
John’s wife Cathy, twin sons Michael and Jack, and trusted Golden Retrievers Riley and Belle have lived in Wayzata for over 25 years. On any given day you will find Cathy and John singing Karaoke, playing golf or fostering their love of movies.
With more than 14 years of experience in the financial services industry, Dale focuses on designing and implementing goals-based, tax-efficient investment and financial planning strategies to help clients achieve their short and long term goals. He ensures clients receive a comprehensive offering of wealth management services including oversight of trust, private foundation, estate, retirement and agency accounts; coordination of income and estate tax planning strategies; and customized financial planning and analysis.
Dale earned bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Economics from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society Minnesota. Dale has also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation to help serve clients in a comprehensive manner.
Prior to joining Marquette, Dale was a Senior Wealth Advisor at CLA Wealth Advisors, LLC a national CPA affiliated Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm. There he provided clients with comprehensive wealth management services. Before CLA, Dale was a Regional Director with Dimensional Fund Advisors, a global investment management firm where he helped lead client service and business development efforts in the Southeastern US.
He lives in Minneapolis and is an avid golfer who also enjoys traveling, reading, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends and family.
As Vice President of Trading and Investment Operations, Mary manages client reporting, portfolio management functions and is responsible for trading and ensuring the accuracy of investment and financial transactions engaged in for our clients. Mary works on the Investment team and works closely with the Client Services and Compliance teams. Before joining the firm in 2006, Mary was a senior client service manager with Atlantic Trust, a boutique advisory firm in Boston.
Additionally, Mary has several years of wealth management experience with Scudder Private Investment Counsel and with Mellon Private Asset Management in Boston. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, cum laude, from Boston University.
Mary lives in Andover with her husband Jeremy, their two children Maeve and Emmet and their dog Oliver. They love to travel together, and they go to Bonita Springs in Florida each year as well as taking an annual trip to see Mary’s family in Ireland, where she was born and raised.
Kristy is the Vice President Compliance Officer at Marquette Wealth Management. She works directly with the management team and the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure the firm’s operational and compliance requirements are met. Kristy participates in internal audits & outside regulatory reviews, assists in the development and implementation of business continuity plans and operating procedures based on regulatory guidelines. She supports the management group and staff in preparing monthly reports regarding regulated activities. She also serves as a liaison in conjunction with the CCO to service providers, vendors and partners of the firm. Under the instruction of the CCO, Kristy participates in most firm initiatives to ensure activities are performed in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
Kristy earned her bachelor’s degree from National American University in Roseville, Minnesota, majoring in business management. Kristy is a St. Paul native; she likes to spend summer weekends at her family’s cabin and during winter, prefers beach vacations with friends and family. Kristy enjoys creating art and walking her young, energetic dog around St. Paul lakes.
John Michael provides financial planning and administrative support to Marquette’s Client Relationship Managers.
John earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, MN.
Previously John worked as a licensed financial professional at AXA Advisors and as a licensed Paraplanner for a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial.
Living in Saint Louis Park, John is currently preparing for his CFP® certification examination. When he isn’t studying, he’s either running around the lakes or you’ll see him at Vikings and Minnesota United Soccer games with his friends and family.
Laura’s passion is to provide a seamless experience for our clients. She works with the client service professionals on account opening, maintenance, and reporting; maintains client information; and assists clients with various needs. She also enjoys planning events for the firm.
Laura earned a bachelor’s degree from Augsburg University in Education with a minor in Psychology.
She lives in Maple Grove with her husband. They have two grown daughters with whom she loves to spend time. Laura enjoys travelling, camping, riding bike, hiking, boating and reading.
Justine is a Client Service Associate at Marquette Wealth Management, providing administrative support to the Client Relationship Managers. She assists with account set up, maintenance, client communication, internal reporting, along with marketing and online presence.
Justine earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Augsburg University in 2017, where she also spent two years playing for the Women’s Volleyball team. She recently moved back to Minneapolis from Saint Paul, with her dog, Delilah. Justine enjoys being outside, often exploring the many parks and lakes that Minneapolis has to offer with her dog.
